Frankie has had a phenomenal bird drive since he was a very young puppy.
He has the uncanny ability to smell a bird when he is at a dead run going by a patch of cover as we witnessed on a
day one summer when he was out on an exercise run. The whole group of dogs ran by a thicket of cover and none of
them even acknowledged the presence of a bird. Frankie ran by the spot and in mid-run turned around,
dove into the cover and disappeared. A few seconds later out comes a rooster pheasant. Too bad it wasn't hunting season!
